Τι είναι το Antimuseum?

Ψάχνοντας στο internet να βρω τον/ τους ορισμούς του antimuseum, συνειδητοποίησα ότι υπάρχουν αρκετά πράγματα που μπορεί να αποκαλέσει κανείς έτσι. Βρήκα μια αρνητική κριτική για ένα μουσείο, το οποίο, λόγω της κακής εκθεσιακής του ποιότητας, κρίθηκε αντιμουσείο. Βρήκα έναν ιδιόμορφο καθηγητή που συνδέει την πολιτική, την κοινωνιολογία, τα μουσεία και το flamenco (και μάλιστα τα διδάσκει!), ο οποίος ορίζει το antimuseum με τρόπο που παραπέμπει σε εικονικό μουσείο (virtual museum). Τέλος, βρήκα ένα απόσπασμα - δυστυχώς μόνο- του Lowenthal, το οποίο νομίζω ότι αξίζει να παραθέσω:

"Above all, pioneer museums are emphatically unlike traditional museums on their techniques, successes and weaknesses. They are virtually antimuseum museums, museums for people who do not like museums and mostly avoid them. They are not repositories of high culture, they are not temples of hushed reverences, they are not places where children have to be kept in order, where things must not be touched, where custodians’ main role seems to be protecting precious masterpieces – in fact, pioneer museums do not have masterpieces. If these stereotypes are a trifle outdates, they are still widely held to be true of museums generally."
